Career/Education Change? Advice PLEASE?

Im 16 years old and no longer go to school. Young I know, but in Australia its quite common. Anyway, I am pretty intelligent and only left school because I suffered extremely bad Galangela Fever. Anyway, I entered into this fulltime admin/personal assistant job. I don’t really like anything about my job. I don’t like the work I do and I don’t like the people I work with. I feel that at 16 I still have time to explore where I want to go in life. That is why I would absolutely LOVE a career change. My mind needs stimulating. I don’t get that at my current job. I get bored really easy and I have always been the type to do absolutely anything just so my brain is being fed! I’m thinking of going to TAFE or doing some sort of study which doesn’t require year 12 completion. I’ve always wanted to get into nursing or something to do with health services. Does anybody have any good suggestions on interesting careers? Or a good place to study on the Gold Coast, Australia? I don’t want a traineeship. I just want to study and get it out of the way. Please help. I feel really lost at the moment.

Well, here in the U.S you only have to go to school 4 years to enter into the nursing field. You have so much time and if nursing is what you want to do, go for it! Just think, whatever job you pick, you must do for 50-60 years depending on the money you make. Do you really want to be doing something you hate for 50 years? Look on the internet for good colleges in your area.

Adelaide or Sydney? I am going to study in Australia but I don’t know where to. Haven’t decided on one yet.?

Help! I want to study in a University that offers cheap tuition (as long as it’s cheaper than the others) and quality education =) I was considering UNISA in Adelaide but someone said that their tuition is still not the lowest among the others.. hahaha I think I don’t make sense… help. =( will yah?

six of one and half a dozen of the other.

a lot would depend on what you are looking at actually studying i would be inclined to go to the one that provides the best course in your chosen area.

as far as lifestyle is concerned Adelaide is perhaps more laid back whereas Sydney is more high powered and possibly has more distractions.

remember there are a number of universities in all states and not just in the major cities.

maybe search the net under australian universities, look into each and see which best suits your needs. also you will need to apply to more than one as there is often a limited intake into some areas.

Should I study abroad in Darwin, Brisbane, or Sydney in Australia, or Auckland, NZ?

I’m planning on going from February- June.

Here is what I want:

1) Friendly locals, where it is easy to meet people.
2) Some sort of fun night scene
3) Safety
4) Natural Beauty
5) Beaches- I would love to get really into scuba diving, so warm water is a necessity.
6) Lots of cool outdoor stuff to do (treks, safaris, ect…)
7) Cool, interesting wildlife nearby
Any schools in these areas known for getting students involved in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Geology, or Environmental Science? I’m a Geology/Environmental Science major, and I love the water, so I would love to get involved in something like that.
9) A low cost of living would definitely be a plus

I’m really excited but having a hard time deciding, so input and opinions would be great! Thanks!!

5-Beaches- we have some of the best in the world, scuba, kayaking and surfing are all popular – afraid the water isn’t the warmest but a wet suit fixes that
6-Hiking and outdoor activities are everywhere and you don’t have to travel hours to escape the city
7-Not only nearby wildlife but you get it in the suburbs, as well as bird life you can get bandicoots etc in backyards and there are mobs a wallabies in the urban bushland
8-Oceanography, marine sciences environmental sciences are a specialty of UTas
9-Hobart is about the cheapest city in Australia to live

Foreign exchange student in Australia?

I want to go to australia in for the year of 2011/2012 but would like additional information on the country, what to expect, culture, best place to go (live), food, etc! pretty much anything and everything you know! I have found a good program already so i don’t need that! But yea anything and everything! any good websites! also i’m home schooled so what should i expect? would it be harder getting into a program? I know i would be going to public school and i’m ok with that but like how is there school system different from the united states? also! is it harder to get into a english speaking country when you live in one? i live in the united states and want to know this! also if it is what questions should i be prepared for? I’m also looking at learning another language in case i can’t go to australia so i was thinking of going to Brazil. Spain? Thailand? Sweden. and Greece! can you let me know how hard the languages are to learn? especially in Brazil, Thailand, and Greece? But my MAIN one is Australia! thanks a TON

I live here I love it there’s such a huge range of stuff. We have rain forests but also have deserts . We have big and busy cities but also small rural towns. There’s little beach communities. and its an island.

We have a great economy, not many nationalities are against us, we have a great education system and so much more

We are a multi cultural society, with our natives been aboriginal. The average Australian various from place to place. in country NSW people enjoy going to the pub, hanging out with friends, doing bush walking etc. Although this is also common in the cities, alot of people in the cities enjoy shopping and then there’s the beaches. I cant help you on schools as ours is similar to the USA schools, but most schools are 7-12. The school year starts in January starts at around 9 and finishes around 3:30. We wear uniform though. When i went to USA school there was 6 class’ everyday and were the same. at my school i have chosen all my class’ except English. I do Ancient History, Drama, Economics, English, Spanish and Tourism and it varies each day i don’t do it in an exact order.

In Australia your also a legal adult at 18 so you can drink, get tattoos and stuff like that. Most people at my school go clubbing on the weekends and a lot even have tattoos.

college/university isn’t as big here as America. We don’t have Halloween, valentines day or thanksgiving, although v day and halloween are becoming more popular.

The people here will pay you out as a joke don’t take it to heart as we do it to everyone including ourselves. We are also very sarcastic and abbreviate everything and speak very fast. eg. mozzie is mosquito or spaz for spastic. The Meals at fast food places are smaller then USA we don’t have taffy (love that stuff)

I am seriously considering coming to Australia to study abroad. But I am a devout christian and my parents won’t let me stay with a family who is not. I would sure apprieciate it if christian family would take me in.

Good on your parents ! What I would suggest is to google Churches in Australia of your particular denomination …decide on a state …then email them & see if they would be prepared to canvas their congregation to see if anyone would like to help you…

We have had exchange students over the years & still take in student interns from the Southern Baptist Churches for a few weeks each year…it’s a great way to learn about different cultures !

THE PERFORMANCE
Café Floriani is a production created in the tradition of Commedia dell’arte.
It is a highly entertaining and spontaneous performance offering students the opportunity to encounter and interact with a range of mask characters who demonstrate the skills and joy of this traditional European Commedia dell’arte theatre. Café Floriani features comedy, improvisation and clowning within mask work which is the essence of the traditional ‘theatre of the people’.

THE PRODUCTION
This production has successfully toured schools with QAC since 2001. It is directed by Tony Kishawi, a highly regarded performer, teacher and director of mask work, mime, clown and physical theatre. Tony
studied Commedia with Antonia Fava in Italy and has specialised in this traditional form of theatre for over 15 years.

All three performers are highly skilled and accomplished. They have all performed with the QLD Shakespeare Ensemble plus other leading Brisbane based companies.
