I want to earn money while studying there for my living expences and study expences. Is it possible? I am asking this question especially from Sri Lankan and south asian students now in Australia. Please help me. Please let me know the things I have to do before applying.
Hi Nicky,
I will tell you briefly the situation.
* You can study in Australia
* It will cost you high to be there and to study for 2-3/4 years
* You have to show a very satisfactory amount of money in your own account to the Australian Government even though you are sponsored by someone in Austrlia.
* You have to deposit that money in Australian bank under your name.
* Finding a job while studying is not very easy. However it doesn’t mean that you will be un-employed. You have to find it by yourself.
* I cannot assure you a well-sophisticated job.
* Most of asian students studied here in Australia are well settled now.
* If you are very well competent in IT you can easily find a job.
* Studying is the only way you can continue in Australia. Other than that the opportunities are very strict and limited for job seekers and PR seekers.
* If you can afford, my opinion is to apply for a good university in Australia without delay.
* If your parents cannot afford, please do not bother them to sell their everything and send you to Australia.
* Because you have enough ways & means to do higher studies in Siri Lanka (even the collages that are in colloboration with Australian Institutes)
* However, If you wish to apply, it is better to go through Australian government and official agencies only.
I wish you all the very best.
As long as you have $$$$ to support your studies then it should be fine.

I think it is possible to earn money while studying in Australia if you get the right kind of Visa a working Visa.

Hi!
I’m studying architecture in UNSW.
I am nearly broke from the law here because of health insurance cover which I want to say "crickey" for. The living expenses are very high so make sure you can survive. From my latest check book of expenditures… it’s very hard to not spend AU$10,000 in a year. I don’t buy that much but at minimum, you are going to be short 12 grand a year.
You can apply for part time work. Just ask the INternational student services center at your university.
BUt DO be aware… when you do live here… I have a good 2 years left (0ut of 5 years of study), if you are going to live here for more than 3 years, I strongly advise you to buy an appartment… the rent has increased due to the HOward government and water prices.
Aside from that, it’s a swell place to study in.
